JBL Pulse 2 Overview
JBL's Pulse 2 is a Bluetooth portable shield-proof speaker with a cylindrical design. What helps the Pulse 2 stand out is the dazzling LED illumination seen underneath and projected onto the metal grid top. This may be a tactic, but it's a pretty good one. So far as audio efficiency is concerned, the Pulse 2 boosts the bass performance of its predecessor by incorporating passive radiators that do an excellent ramping job.
DESIGN
Here's one aspect to know for sure that the JBL Pulse 2 looks a lot smoother than the initial version of JBL Pulse. That's not to suggest the initial Pulse was bad, but it's necessary to appreciate what the improved speaker grill did with the look of the speaker.
Another massive shift that influences both performance and aesthetics is that instead of making a singular standard passive bass radiator at one end and manipulating the other as the initial one, the JBL Pulse 2 creates harmony by placing the bass radiators on both sides of the device, shifting the controls to a panel on the edge of the speaker.
LED LIGHTS SHOW
All of this associated with an improvement in the number of LED lights gives the JBL Pulse 2 a more elegant overall look. Lights move in a number of different ways, and while none of them is synchronized to match the song, it may always feel like the light is shifting in harmony with the music. The JBL Pulse 2 will also attempt to recreate a hue by clicking the Light button next to a bright blue panel.
Lights always display sound changes as you adapt it to the speaker itself, which is a nice little feature if you want to make sure the JBL Pulse 2 doesn't start flickering at maximum volume when you attach it to the headphone output and press click.
AUDIO PERFORMANCE
Like other compact cylindrical Bluetooth speakers, the JBL Pulse 2 radiates 360 angles of audio, but the tone is obviously calmer and smoother if you're directed towards the center of the speaker. The performance of this speaker has been enhanced, and the two passive bass radiators make the JBL Pulse 2 a lot stronger performer.
The sound profile of JBL appears to be more natural. The low, mid, and peaks are consistent, and at high frequencies, there is far less turbulence and saturation than at the previous version.
To be sure, tuning is excellent; there is never any crudeness, so it allows for a decent musical moment. The bass tends to be more powerful at low rates of listening to large frequencies, although there is no interference, certain automated signal processing comes in and reduces the bass frequencies. That's why, of course, there's no saturation, and it still somewhat smooths out the blend.
BATTERY-LIFE
JBL reports that you can get around 10 hours of battery life from Pulse 2, utilizing both the speaker and the lighting display. Battery capacity depends based on how frequently you play music and how frequently you use the LED lights; even for mixed-use, it is expected to be 10 hours without recharging the device.
CONNECTIVITY
The JBL Pulse 2 is mainly a Bluetooth device, although if you have an audio cord, you can still use it with a wired link (the device does not provide the audio cable). Up to three devices can be connected with JBL Pulse 2 at once, so you can even use it as a speakerphone if you combine it with a mobile phone. The JBL Pulse 2 can be attached to other JBL Pulse 2 speakers to enhance the audio.
BOTTOM LINE
The JBL Pulse 2 distinguishes itself from the competitive portable Bluetooth speakers in the market with a sparkling LED light display and offers a fantastic audio experience as well.
