NARS Cosmetics Products Overview
The United States Federal Food, Drug and Cosmetic Act (FDCA) defines cosmetics as ‘’articles that are intended to be rubbed, sprinkled, sprayed, or poured on or into, or applied to the human body or any other part for cleansing or enhancing beauty, or changing the appearance’’.
Importance:
Beautifying the faces, changing and altering the appearances have always been the tradition of the attractiveness of all genders. Everyone wants to look beautiful and glamorous as it has been a status symbol in every society that existed. You can pick up any time frame in our history and see that people were not known by their deeds or civil manners or their way of speaking rather they were, and they still are, known by the appearances they keep. Of course, these double man-made standards have led us nowhere but in false satisfactions and dual standards.
History:
The earliest history of makeup comes from the earliest of times dating back to the first dynasty of Egypt. At first, kohl was used widely by people to beautify their eyelashes and eyelids. Chalk was also used by Egyptians for brightening their complexion. Henna was also used in the dyeing of hair, nails, and hands with the belief that this makeup would enable them to call upon the Majesty of the Earth. Then this tradition evolved and evolved until it reached the 21st century where everything is available. If you have spots, a dark complexion, dark shadows, scars, you don’t need to worry because you are in the right age of modern makeup and it can transform a very average looking person into a supermodel.
NARS:
‘’NARS Cosmetics’’ is a skincare company that was established by Francois Nars in the year 1994. The company just like any other; started with very humble circumstances. The main line-up of its cosmetics included only twelve (12) lipsticks of different shades. Since that time, the company has made a fortune selling wide-range cosmetic products and it is now also part of Shiseido (a Japanese multi-national skin-care company).

The NARS’ minimalist black matte rubber packaging was made by Fabien Baron, who had a meeting with NARS in a model photo-shoot back in 1989.

The NARS cosmetic product that was hated the most was ‘’Pro-Prime Smudge Proof Eye-shadow Base’’.
According to consumer reports, the worst thing was its packaging. It felt like a cheap chemical solution rather than a premium end cosmetic product. It dried off easily and came off very easily, ruining the look of the face.
ANIMAL TESTING:
NARS has faced a major setback regarding its sales and reputation because it was involved in animal testing. Animal Testing is a requirement for companies who want to sell their products in China. The people certainly did not like this notion. People tend to prefer products of companies that are cruelty-free. However, NARS does not seem to feel guilty about this. They say that they want to bring their vision of beautifying people across China as well. So, they knew what was coming for them, people started boycotting their products.
FINAL VERDICT:
It would not be wrong to say that NARS has already made a fortune and was once considered the best arising company in the world of cosmetics but now after their animal testing scandal, they have lost their reputation. However, some of their products like lipstick and Nail polishes are used globally.
