Nikon D3100 Overview
Introduction
Nikon D3100 release date was on August 19, 2010 and was announced as a replacement to Nikon D3000, made in Thailand. Nikon D3100 specs include a 14.2 Megapixel DX-format Digital Single Lens Reflex (DSLR) Nikon F-mount camera. It was the first Nikon DSLR featuring a Full High Definition video Recorder with a Nikon Full-time Autofocus instead of the Motion JPEG technology and also the first time ever introduced the Nikon EXPEED 2 Image Processor. This was the first Nikon Digital Single Lens Reflex to be able to record a one frame rate for the High Definition video recording.
Nikon D3100 Lens is of interchangeable characteristics with the Nikon F-mount. Nikon D3100 unmodified A-lenses can be mounted with a supporting Electronic Rangefinder. Features
Nikon D3100 Focus Modes are Auto-servo Auto Focus and Single-servo Auto Focus along with Continuous-servo Auto Focus and a Manual Focus. There are two operation modes for Nikon D3100 Easy and Advanced Operation Mode. Nikon D3100 as a webcam has been one of the common practices.
Nikon D3100 video recording modes are 1080p for the duration of 10 minutes at 24 frames per second in codec H.264. Similarly, the 720p mode has three frame settings 30 frames per second, 25 frames per second and 24 frames per second. Yet, the 480p mode has only an s4 frames per seconding recording feature.
Nikon D3100 has a Built-in Pop-up Flash compatible with the Nikon Creative Lightening System. The Nikon D3100 continuous shooting frame rate is of Three Frames per second with a Rear LCD monitor of a 3.0 inch 230,000 Pixel TFT type. Nikon D3100 battery is a Nikon EN-EL14 Lithium-ion rechargeable battery. Without the battery, Nikon D3100 weighs approximately 455 grams.
Nikon D3100 Camera Retouching Features include Reduction of Redeye, Color balancing, Monochromatic, Quick retouching, Re-aligning and straightening, NEF Processing, Fisheye effect, Perspective Control, Overlaying images and movie editing. The file formats of Nikon D3100 are JPG and 12-bit compressed Nikon’s raw NEF.
Common Optional Nikon D3100 Lenses are AF-S DX NIKKOR 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6G VR, AF-S DX NIKKOR 18-105mm f/3.5-5.6G ED VR, AF NIKKOR 50mm f/1.8D.
Nikon D3100 optional accessories include a Nikon GP-1 GPS unit for geographical location-based tagging and third party based 3-axis compass and a data logger.
