Gas Oven Overview
Cooking food has been made easier with the invention of the gas oven. The gas oven is basically a stove that works with combustible gas. The first gas oven was invented in the year 1826 by Philip and Smith. With time, the design of the gas oven has been evolved according to the state of art technology.
The gas oven is top-rated and is used widely in almost every house. The temperature of gas ovens can be controlled easily with the knobs, which are in front of the stove. A small flame is created when a knob is turned on, and the flame increases when the knob is twisted to the high temperature.
Parts
The following are the parts of a gas oven.
Oven Burner
This part of a gas oven cooks the food. When it is switched on, the burner is actually turned on.
Thermocouple
In some gas oven, there is a continually burning pilot flame. When the oven is turned on, gas flows through the appliance, and the pilot flame ignites.
If the pilot flame turns off during cooking, it is the job of the thermocouple to cut off the gas supply to prevent any kind of incident.
Thermostat
This part measures the temperature inside the oven. It is responsible for making sure that the food is being cooked at the temperature which is set through the oven controls.
Working
Food in gas ovens is cooked with the help of a gas-fuelled burner. They need a secure supply of natural gas for functioning correctly. They can be turned on by a small pilot flame.
When the oven is turned on, the gas passes through the appliance. When the ignition knob is twisted, it lights the burner. The thermostat continuously monitors the heat to make sure that the food cooks onset temperature. When the set temperature is reached, the burner extinguishes, and the supply of gas is cut off. When the temperature starts to cook down, it will turn on automatically.
The gas oven of the following companies are available in Pakistan and are widely used.
- Nasgas
- Canon
- Admiral
- Dawlance
Precautions
If a person smells gas before lighting a gas oven, he/she should not turn it on and should evacuate that area. The local gas company representative should be called to stay safe from any kind of incident. Children should not be allowed to come near and touch the gas oven.
Facts About Pakistan
The overall population of PAKISTAN is approximately at around 217 million. It represents 2.81% of the world's population. The poverty rate of Pakistan is 29.5% which means more than 55 million people are living under poverty. The average income of households per annum of Pakistan is at around 45 thousand rupees, while the rest lies below the poverty line.
About Gas Oven In Pakistan
Pakistan has about 55% of the population who prepares the food by the usage of gas stoves which includes the privileged minorities, and the rest 45% of the population prepares the food by using fire and woods who are underprivileged minorities and are living with poverty.
However, there is a difference between in an oven and in a stove. A stove is a top and upper part of the chamber which is used to prepare the meal by either using gas or electricity, while an oven is a down and lower part of the chamber which is only used for baking certain items like making a brownie or baking a cake etc. An oven is not used for preparing a meal like a stove is used for and the usage of an oven in Pakistan is also very limited as they are only used for baking and they are more to be used household members and in restaurants to bake certain food. If we compare the usage of the gas oven with gas stoves in Pakistan, it is to be found out that gas stoves are more to be used than a gas oven.
Efficiency Of Gas Used In Pakistan
As in Pakistan, gas is a natural resource and Balochistan is Pakistan's largest province for providing natural gas by 6% all over Pakistan known as SUI GAS FIELD founded in 1952. Everyday Pakistan consumption of gas is being used by 10% while the question arises that what will happen in the future if Pakistan's natural gas will be depleted and will be diminished. As natural gas will not be reproduced and takes over millions of years from decomposing plant and animal matter that is buried in sedimentary rock layers and underground that turns into fossil fuels (natural gas and coals).
The major problem will arise in future if Pakistan's natural gas will be depleted and they have to slow down the consumption in order to preserve the natural gas and the better option for Pakistan could be to use electricity and to use electric stoves and ovens as they will not be depleted and will contribute in preserving the natural gas. Also, electric ovens and electric stoves are more efficient to use and less cheap to consume than as compared to gas stoves and ovens, so Pakistan should look into this matter and help to preserve the natural gas consumption in upcoming years.
Verdict
We recommend using a gas oven as they help in cooking and baking food, but they should be used carefully.
